12 Types of Dresses

Type of Dress
It wasn’t until now that I’m older and I’m trying to revamp my look and my closet as an effort to not letting myself go.

It’s never too late to become a fashionista and to learn about style. Sometimes we just buy dresses and we don’t even know which style we are buying to be able to explain it to our friends who saw a picture of our dress and who wish to buy the same dress.  Although we would love to share the information we don’t know exactly what style of dress we are wearing.

I thought it would be fun and educational to write about 12 types of dresses to increase our knowledge about fashion and style.

Type of dresses

1.Maxi dress: they are usually very casual dresses, loose fitting at the bottom. Ankle or floor length.

2.Bodycon dress: one of my favorite type of dresses. They are typically made of lycra and polyester. This dress basically hugs your body very tightly showing all your curves.

3.Midi dress: dress with a hem which hits a mid-calf – halfway between the knee and ankle.

4.Sheath dress: another one of my fave style dress and this is a type of dress that you will usually see Kate Middleton and other royal ladies wearing all the time. This type of dress is designed to fit closely to your body and they typically fall around the knees or lower thighs.

5.Shift dress: Popular since 1960’s. Short and suitable for all body types. It was named the shift dress because is easy to “shift” or move with this dress.

6.Tunic dress: this dress is also suitable for most body types. Very casual and flowy.

7.Halter dress: when you think of a halter dress (or Halter top for that matter) think of having straps being tied behind your neck. You can find short or long (formal ) type of halter dresses. Great for women that have nice boobs!!–😉

8.Wrap dress: when I think about wrap dress the first thing that comes to my mind is Diane Von Furstenberg. It’s a dress that wraps one side across the other usually making a V shape neckline. This dress also looks flattering on all body types.

9.Pouf dress: type of dress where the bottom part has been gathered to give a puffy shape.

10.Shirt dress: this is very simple, It’s a dress that has the collar and buttons in the style of a shirt with a looser fit.

11.Empire dress: has a fitted bodice just below the bust. It gives a high-waisted appearance. This type of dress is most flattering to pear shapes.

12.A-Line dress: this is a type of dress that is fitted at the waist or hips and gradually opens up at the hem.

So now when you go shopping at the mall, online or when talking to your fashionista friends you can show off your fashion knowledge. Also when you watch Fashion Police you will notice that you now understand what the heck they are talking about…

This has been so much fun

I loved the dresses and the explanations too; I recently started dressing more in dresses. I loved this post although I do feel that your blog is just a little hard to view on the phone so much that I didn’t get to see some of the dresses 😥😥 I hope you can change that
